After graduating from Harvard College with degrees in Physics and Sanskrit Language & Literature, I worked "in the real world" at Monitor Company management consulting for two years, and spent half a year doing nonprofit work in India. After working for the Ambady lab for a year as a research assistant, during which time I journeyed back to India for data collection, I joined the Organizational Behavior Ph.D. program run together by the Business School and psychology department. I am also finishing a master's degree in statistics. My research focuses on emotion in the workplace, particularly the role of emotional communication in workplace relationships and performance appraisals. Along with Professor Ambady, I have also been doing work on the cross-cultural communication of emotion, in particular the "ingroup advantage" by which individuals better understand emotions expressed by members of their own group.
