Social Communication Experiments

The social communication experiments are an attempt to learn more about the cottontop tamarins' vocal repertoire by placing them in various contexts, either alone or with other tamarins of varying relationships.


Two tamarins encounter a long-haired rabbit. This unfamiliar animal used as a comparison with their response to the natural predator (snake) they are presented with in other trials.
