These are photos of two separate chimpanzee communities in the Kibale Forest, a medium altitude rainforest in southwestern Uganda. The Kanyawara chimps have been observed and studied extensively for more than 15 years through the Kibale Chimpanzee Project, a research and conservation program initiated by Professor Richard Wrangham and the Makerere University Biological Research Station. The Kanyanchu community has been the subject of a study on vocal communication.
