My research focuses on how and why cognitive and affective/emotional psychological processes interact in the ways they do. In particular, I concentrate on how our underlying neural architecture gives rise to these interactions which can vary in their functionality and adaptiveness. I examine these processes in contexts ranging from early object recognition to deliberation over difficult moral dilemmas, and evaluate their manifestation in the changes that occur in people’s behavior, bodily states, and brain activity.
