Yun ZhouGraduate Student in SociologyBiographical NoteOriginally from Nanjing, China, Yun Zhou received her undergraduate degrees from Peking University, China in 2011 with majors in Urdu Literature and Sociology. Before entering the Sociology PhD program, Yun was a visiting student in National University of Modern Languages, Pakistan from 2008 to 2009 where she studied Urdu Literature and conducted research on gender relations in the Islamic culture. Yun has also worked on Beijing's 2010 Key Research Project investigating the environmental status and policy responses in rural Beijing. Yun is fluent in Chinese, English as well as Urdu. Her research interests include: gender and sexuality; inequality and stratification; development; education as well as comparative and historical sociology with a regional focus on East Asian societies (China and Japan). 12/05/2011
