Biographical Note

Originally from Laguna Niguel California, Jessica received her B.A from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008 with a major in Communication and a minor in Hispanic Studies. Her senior honors thesis explored the relationship between the media and the black public sphere. Her project investigated the ways in which independent black radio, as a function of the black public sphere, engages intraracial difference within the Black-American community. Prior to joining the Sociology Ph.D. program she worked as a management consultant in New York City. Her research interests include: race/racial identity, class, gender, inequality and organizations.
