Erin Reid

Graduate Student in Organizational Behavior / Sociology

Biographical Note

Erin Marie Reid is a PhD Candidate in the Joint Program in Organizational Behavior and Sociology. Erin's research interests center on questions of identity, gender, institutional change, and sustainability. In her dissertation, Erin examines whether and how men construct their professional identities in relation to the cultural image of an ideal worker, the sources and consequences of variations in this relationship, and the mechanisms underlying the image’s continued salience in corporate culture. She explores these issues through an inductive, multi-method field study of an elite professional service firm. In other work, Erin has examined corporate sustainability practices and gender dynamics in the workplace. Erin holds an M.Sc. in Organizational Behavior from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University. Her doctoral studies are supported by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Fellowship. Prior to entering the PhD Program, Erin worked as a Research Analyst for TNS-Canadian Facts, and as a Policy Analyst for the Government of Canada.
