Biographical Note

Kim Pernell studies the social causes of institutional corruption and financial crisis. Her dissertation explores the evolution of banking regulation in three countries that experienced very different outcomes during the recent global financial crisis. Her qualifying paper examined how organizational processes drove the diffusion of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) among U.S. publicly traded banks.
