Biographical Note

Dong Ju Lee is a first-year Ph D student in Sociology. She graduated from Korea University and received her MA in sociology with Best Dissertation Award from Korea University in 2007. She was a Research Associate of the Korea Women’s Development Institute. Her research interests have been focusing on the relationship between social institutions and gender inequality. She conducted several research projects about these issues in Korean context, including gender wage gap, anti-prostitution movements, fertility decline, and maternity protection policies. Her first published article, "The Process of Frame Formation and Transition in Korean anti-prostitute movements from 1970 to 2005" appeared in the Social Issues (in Korean). She participated in the international film making team which produced "Behind Forgotten Eyes", a documentary about the sexual slavery by Japanese Military in World War II.
