Biographical Note
Marya Besharov is a doctoral candidate in Organizational Behavior and Sociology at Harvard University. Marya received her M.B.A. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and her A.B. from Harvard University. Her research interests include hybrid organizational forms, mission-driven businesses, alternative forms of control in organizations, and the meaning and experience of work. Marya’s dissertation examines employee behavior in a for-profit business with a social mission. The findings have implications for understanding control systems in organizations and for the management of employees in mission-driven businesses and related settings. Prior to her graduate studies, Marya spent four years working in health care research and consulting at The Advisory Board Company in Washington, D.C.
