Biographical Note

Jennifer Silva (Ph.D. 2010, University of Virginia) is a ASA/NSF Postdoctoral Fellow in Sociology working on the research project "Consequences of the Great Recession for the Economic Insecurity of American Families" under the direction of Professor Bruce Western. Harvard is one of six universities participating in this research project funded by the National Science Foundation. While at Harvard Jennifer will also work on writing a book based on her dissertation research, which examines how working-class youth navigate the transition to adulthood in an unstable and risky service economy. This year Dr. Silva will teach a junior tutorial on "Coming of Age in the Twenty-First Century" during the spring 2012 term.
