Biographical Note

RACHEL MEYER holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Michigan. Her research is focused on labor and work, social class, social movements, culture and identity, political sociology, class and race, and globalization. Her current book project investigates how contrasting patterns of collective action differentially transform working-class consciousness and subjectivity. Meyer is also writing on contemporary trends in working-class mobilization and is co-authoring a manuscript about collective action and the transformation of solidarity. Meyer has, in addition, published collaboratively with colleagues at the University of Michigan on the extent and sources of ethical consumption with respect to sweatshops and workers’ rights.
