Biographical Note

Luisa Heredia received a B.A. in anthropology and sociology from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 and a Ph.D. in sociology from Harvard University in 2008. Heredia’s research interests include race/ethnicity, immigration, political and civic engagement, and social movements with a focus on ethnic and immigrant political incorporation. She is currently working on a book manuscript from her dissertation study, “Faith in Action: The Catholic Church and the Immigrant Rights Movement, 1980-2007,” which examines the Catholic Church’s involvement in the Immigrant Rights Movement in Los Angeles over the past three decades.

Heredia will be joining the Department of Sociology at Harvard University as a Lecturer during the 2009-2010 academic year.
