William James Hall

Building Operations, Room 12

Welcome to William James Hall Building Operations!  We are located in the basement (Room 12) of William James Hall.  The late Minoru Yamasaki designed our prominent structure, which houses the Departments of Psychology and Sociology and the Social Anthropology wing of the Department of Anthropology.  Some of his other creations include Chicago’s Montgomery Ward building, Harvard’s Engineering Sciences building and New York’s World Trade Center, which was tragically destroyed on September 11, 2001.  William James Hall is open from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Saturday.  On Sundays, holidays, and weeknights after business hours the doors are locked and ventilation is somewhat reduced. Entering the building or the libraries after hours is via a card access system that reads your Harvard ID card.  Your ID number will need to be programmed into the system so please come to the Building Operations Office when you get your card.

The Building Operations Office (a.k.a. Center Office) is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Keys are issued from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Our main phone number is 495-3801.  If you are new to the building, please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself.  Our web address is http://www.wjh.harvard.edu/cbs/, which provides quick and easy access to information that details what we can do for you!

Bill Santoro (5-3801) is Manager of Building Services.  Herb Fuller (5-3850) is Manager of Building Facilities.  To make it easier for you to direct your requests to the appropriate person, please click on the Who to Call? link on our home page. In an emergency, any of our staff will be able to help you.
